Every year Earth Day is celebrated across the globe so that people could become more aware about the Earth and the importance of conserving the natural environment on the earth. The Earth Day was first conceptualized by John McConnell in the year 1969 at a conference of UNESCO in San Francisco. Gaylord Nelson, a US senator Wisconsin is given credit to celebrate the Earth Day and it started for the first time on 22nd April, 1970. In many countries, an entire week is celebrated as the Earth Week. Millions of people participate in the Earth Day celebrations across the world. The most important activity on this day is to have several programs to increase the awareness about the nature and environment. Children should be encouraged to participate in various activities on the earth day. The most common and the easiest of all is the planting of trees. Many organizations, schools and institutes arrange for planting trees on the earth day. Children could do some kind of nature craft for example they can make bird houses. Recycling of the used things or reusing of the used things can be arranged in the public places so that people could understand the importance of recycling and reusing of things. Seminars and meetings are arranged where participants can gain knowledge about the nature and learn different ways of conserving the natural resources. Earth day should be celebrated in such manner that even the ordinary man could participate and work towards saving the nature.
