Valentine’s Day is the day of love and it has its origin in the ancient time when people used to pay respect to the Roman God of Fertility. Then it used to be known as Feast of Lupercalia that used to be celebrated on 14th of February. The Valentine’s Day traditions are many and with time it has taken a different form altogether. The day is for the lovers who honor their love and affection for each other through different activities. Now even the other family members and kids get involved in to this. Because of the significance of the day, many couples get engaged on this day or many have their wedding arranged on this day. The day is also said to be associated with Saint Valentine. By the 15th century, this day became associated with the lovers and on this day, lovers express their love for each other by giving presents, flowers or greeting cards. The heart-shaped items such as show pieces, balloons, chocolates, cakes, jewelries, and other accessories are now the integral part of the valentine day. The other symbols of Valentine’s Day are the dove, winged Cupid etc. On this day the couples try to spend time with each other, offer gifts, greeting cards and other presents to each other to show how much they love each other. Though the concept of Valentine’s Day started from the west but it has become a widely celebrated day across the globe.
